A Savior is Born...

Christmas came and went quickly this year. We still remember that Christmas is about the birth of Jesus Christ! We spent time with Nana and Abuelo playing dirty Santa and opening gifts.

On Christmas Eve, we went to Grandmama and Granddaddy Berlin's house. We saw Mimi and Papa Jim. We had pizza for dinner, then opened gifts in front of the Christmas Tree.

Kayla and Jessica enjoyed their Christmas gifts from everybody.

Later, we drove home and saw a blinking red light in the sky. It must have been Rudolph leading Santa's sleigh. Santa was near! Jessica left out the cookies we made earlier and some milk for Santa Claus...Apparently, Santa had stopped by our house.
Photobucket
Kayla got some clothes, makeup, and jewelry!
Photobucket
Jessica got an easy-bake-oven which she asked for on her Christmas list! She also got a glow in the dark crayola coloring dome, a scooter, a Barbie doll on roller skates, and a Dora bath set.
Photobucket
Kayla and Jessica both got candy and goodies in their stockings. Yogi even got some treats in his stocking. Santa does not forget about pets!
Kayla and Jessica were happy with their gifts on Christmas morning. For lunch, we ate at a Chinese restaurant with Nana: the best Christmas tradition of all! After lunch we went home and Jessica was excited to try out her easy-bake-oven. She made little red velvet cupcakes with pink icing and sprinkles! Yum! We then watched a Christmas Story.

It was a very Merry Christmas after all!

Our bare, poor looking tree in the front yard in December...At least you can see the two little bird nests high in the branches: a promise that spring and warm weather will finally come again!

Visit with Santa!

Kayla and Jessica went to church this morning. Jessica learned what Christmas is really about: it's about Jesus' birthday!

After church, we went to the mall, so that Kayla could go shopping with the money she got for his birthday.... I believe she spent about $100.00, which was nearly all her birthday money! Money goes fast at the mall!
Celeb style: Lauren Conrad

We also went to the mall so that Jessica could see Santa Claus!
Photobucket
Jessica had brought the card she made him. She dropped the card off in a mail box to the North Pole!
Photobucket
Jessica was able to tell Santa want she wanted. I think she's been good this year; we know she made his nice list. Santa sent Jessica a card in the mail the other day telling her so!
Photobucket
After the visit with Santa, Jessica got a Spongebob Popcycle.
Photobucket
She also found a clown at the mall today, who made a balloon animal of her choice. Jessica chose Hello Kitty!

The Nice List!

Last weekend, Kayla and Jessica went to a Christmas parade with Nana. They saw Santa Claus at the end of the parade!
Photobucket
Then a few days ago, Jessica got a Christmas card in the mail. It came from Santa Claus!
Santa said Jessica had been good all year and she had made the nice list! She will definitely get a visit from him on Christmas Eve night! I think she will get what she wants!
Photobucket
Yogi wants a gift from Santa too! He wants Santa to give him a haircut!
Yogi had a nice clean bath recently, but could also use a good shave! I'm sure he'll get a haircut and maybe something in his stocking from Santa!
Photobucket
This evening, the Viscarra family was getting ready to go to the Suwanee town square for a Christmas even they were having. Jessica thought it was nice that Santa got her a card. She made a card for Santa too!
Photobucket
We went to the Christmas event and watched Christmas carolers sing Christmas carols!
Photobucket
Jessica and Kayla stood in front of the Christmas tree with their hot chocolates because it was cold outside! They also got a visit from the Chick-Fil-A Cow!
Photobucket
Jessica had fun riding the train, but was really looking forward to going back home and going to bed. She was so cold!
Photobucket
We came home and ate dinner, sat by the fire in the living room and watched The Santa Clause.

Countdown to Christmas

Yesterday, for mommy's birthday, I got some pretty plants and some cards from Kayla and Jessica:)

Later in the evening, the family went out to eat at a Mexican restaurant. It was a nice birthday, and we look forward to counting down to Christmas! Here are Kayla and her friends:

Here was Jessica with the snowgirl she made for school and having fun at the rides at the mall. She also made a little candy cane reindeer in girl scouts:

Mommy went to reader's workshop in Jessica's Kindergarten class this morning. Here she is showing off some snowflakes she made:

After school, Jessica had her favorite winter treat: hot chocolate and chocolate chips. She also helped make muffins afterward:

Jessica can't wait for her visit from Santa Claus on Christmas Eve. Originally she wanted him to bring her an ipad and a rabbit! Later, she said she wanted some kind of magic markers and an easy bake oven. I'm sure Jessica will be happy with the toys Santa brings her. Kayla says she does not know what she wants for Christmas this year! I'm sure she'll think of something soon enough!

Kayla's 14th Birthday

Today was Kayla's birthday. She turned 14 years old. I can't believe how it seemed like yesterday she was born at the hospital. She was born at Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville on November 26, 1997 at 5:20 a.m. She was 19 inches long and weighed 6 lb. and 8 oz. The first thing I noticed was Kayla's head full of black hair! Her baby days went by too fast.
On her birthday, we had the family come over. We had a Thanksgiving style lunch and watched the Auburn/Alabama game. (Too bad Auburn lost!) That didn't stop Kayla from having a happy birthday. Here she is on her 14th birthday blowing the candles out on her cake!

After we ate cake, Kayla opened her birthday gifts from her family!

Emmy and Jessica played with Jessica's next door neighbor friends later that day:

Elly tried getting the last bit of Kayla's birthday cake!

Jessica and Emmy played dressup for the rest of the day!

I think Kayla enjoyed the cake and gifts! Next year, she will be getting her learner's permit to drive! Yikes!

Turkeys in the Closet!

On Thanksgiving Day, we had a big lunch at Mimi's house. Brian and Mandi came up from Florida with Annie Kathryn and Jillian. Grandmama and Grandaddy also came over. We ate way too much for lunch. After lunch, Jessica, Annie Kathryn, and Jillian played in Mimi's hallway closet. (The same closet I played in when I was little.) It looks like the turkeys had fun playing today! The family remembered to give thanks for all of the blessings we have!

We Got Our Christmas Decorations Out Early

It's not even Thanksgiving Day yet, and we got our Christmas decorations out early! The Viscarra family is going to enjoy the spirit of Christmas as early as we can. We can be thankful that Christmas is about the birth of Christ! (That is the true Christmas gift.) I think we are going to enjoy the holidays this year!

Kindergarten Thanksgiving Program

Jessica's Kindergarten class and another one combined and did a Thanksgiving Program for the parents! The kids were dressed as pilgrims, indians, and popcorn! The kids sang funny and cute songs about Thanksgiving Day:

Jessica was a popcorn! Ha ha! Her outfit consisted of a white trash bag she wore over her dress and a cone hat made out of construction paper!

It was very crafty. Mommy was glad she got to see Jessica in her Thanksgiving Day play. We are also looking forward to the kids having a whole week off from school!

Thankful Things

With Thanksgiving Day and Kayla's birthday around the corner, it is time to start thinking about things we are grateful for! :)
(Below is Jessica's turkey she decorated for her Kindergarten class. It was Jessica's homework one day. Instead of buying things for decorations we used things we found around the house. Jessica colored her turkey and glued her leftover Halloween candy on the turkey. How creative is that?)

I am always, always thankful for my family, and Kayla and Jessica! I am thankful we have had a good year in 2011 and we keep having fond memories~

Sisters! :-)

I think Yogi is thankful for his throne which he is shown laying on here:)

And around Thanksgiving, be always thankful for our food!

Kayla says she wants to go on a shopping spree for her birthday!

Yep, we'll see about that shopping spree! I just know that around Thanksgiving, we have so many blessing to count and so many things to be grateful for!
